About North Estonia Medical Centre

North Estonia Medical Centre is one of Estonia’s leading specialist hospitals and an important centre for clinical education and research. Based in Tallinn, its seven clinics cover nearly every medical specialty. Its laboratory, one of Estonia’s largest, provides testing across the principal fields of laboratory medicine.

1 Background

Centralized project management across sites

Over the past year, the laboratory has used Validation Manager for most of its project work. This has included new instrument validations and analyzer comparisons involving cobas® and Stago systems, large-scale analyzer changes and replacements, and routine validation and comparison work.

Some of these projects span multiple sites. Validation Manager provides a common platform for sharing and analyzing data, while centralized project management helps the laboratory maintain greater consistency between sites.

Before Validation Manager, data handling relied mainly on manual Excel workflows, requiring more preparation and formatting. The team can now prepare data in Excel and upload it to Validation Manager or import instrument files directly when available.

2 Key outcomes

Team of laboratory professionals collaborating around a table with laptops and notebooks in a modern clinical lab.
  • One platform across sites. Project data can be shared, analyzed and managed in a common environment.

  • Support for major analyzer changes. The platform has been used for new cobas® and Stago analyzers, replacements and comparison projects.

  • Better alignment across sites. Centralized project management helps laboratories work more consistently.

  • Flexible data imports. Direct import of instrument files or files from Excel can be used according to the needs of each project.

  • Faster report preparation. Editing a generated project report takes less time than creating the complete report from scratch.

  • Detailed supporting documentation. A concise stakeholder summary can be accompanied by the full Validation Manager report.

  • Value after the learning curve. Once users become familiar with the software, they find it useful and powerful for complex validation work.
