Achieving verification excellence: How Linköping University Hospital unlocks productivity with Validation Manager

About Linköping University Hospital
Linköping University Hospital is one of Sweden’s largest and most advanced healthcare institutions, serving as both a regional center for specialized medical care and a key hub for medical research and education. It provides a broad range of services, including specialized treatments in fields like cardiovascular surgery, neurology, and oncology. The hospital is known for its commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare.
1 The goal
Streamlining and standardizing the verification process
Previously using Excel spreadsheets and Method Validator, the laboratory sought a more efficient way to streamline their verification process. The goal was to cut time spent on tasks like data entry, graph creation, result evaluation, and report writing, while also establishing a standardized approach to presenting results.

2 The result
Unlocking productivity

mplementing Validation Manager has significantly reduced the time required for data transfer, graph generation, and result review, enabling the staff to focus on more important tasks.
Thanks to the automated report feature, the laboratory can instantly see the results and graphs after uploading data and can quickly evaluate if more data is needed.
Validation Manager has been especially helpful for large projects. For example, when verifying seven Sysmex hematology point-of-care instruments, they could upload data directly from the instruments into Validation Manager and select only the parameters of interest.
While users must invest time in learning how to use Validation Manager through practice and training courses, it becomes easy once they are familiar with it. The built-in guidance and fast, responsive support also helps alleviate the learning curve.

Major verification project ahead with Validation Manager

The laboratory is currently preparing for a major verification project next year, involving three chemistry lines in Linköping, two in Norrköping, and a chemistry instrument in Motala. They look forward to leveraging Validation Manager to its fullest potential throughout this process.
